Keys to Victory for Colerain
MUSCLE UP–As Coach Bolden mentioned in the pregame preview, Sycamore is a very young team. They list 29 Sophomores on their varsity roster. I didn’t check, but that has got to be more Sophomores than any other team in the GMC. Many of those Sophomores are going to be starting which means quite simply, they will not have had the time in the weight room that our Junior and Senior starters have had. Colerain needs to use their strength in the trenches this week and push Sycamore around both offensively and defensively. There should be very few, if any, penalties on the lines this week as Colerain should be heavily favored in the trenches.
KEEP YOUR COOL – For whatever reason, Sycamore, much like Middletown, seems to be one of those places that Colerain struggles with the yellow laundry on the field. The Cardinals must maintain their calm if calls start mounting up against them and refocus. This is a perfect game to practice some restraint and emphasis smart, disciplined play.
RESPECT MOTHER NATURE – The weather could be nasty on Friday night. It was nasty against Hamilton and the Cardinals did a fantastic job holding onto the football, not turning it over at all. However, in much nicer weather, Colerain turned it over twice last week against Princeton. Bottom-line is that every team is giving Colerain their best shot. Giving your opponents a short field is dangerous. Doing it against a disciplined, opportunistic team like Sycamore could be VERY dangerous. Take care of the rock..

Bottom-Line
Colerain wins this game with a healthy margin if the weather doesn’t play a factor. The Aviators are still a year or two away from reloading their program with the necessary playmakers and depth to compete with a team like Colerain. Now, if the weather is bad and the Cardinals don’t take care of the football, it could get interesting. The defense has an opportunity to pitch a shutout and the offense has a chance to really fine tune the option as well as work on a few wrinkles which might help later on in the season..

GO CARDINALS!

WE ARE...COLERAIN!!
