The cross country team competed at the Greenville Invitational in Greenville, Ohio. The meet is the second largest in Ohio this year with over 20 teams and 200 runners in the varsity races alone. The boys' team finished 2nd among these teams. Junior Craig Sulken led the way, finishing 8th overall with a time of 16:55. Right behind him was sophomore Erik Tomczewski at 16:56, making him the fastest freshman or sophomore runner in the race. Almost every other runner set a personal-best time in the race as well, including several junior varsity runners. The girls' team finished in 6th place as a team despite several runners sitting out with injuries. Senior Kristen Wells finished 25th overall with a time of 20:55, followed closely by junior Sam Work at 20:56. Freshman runner Kabrella Clark also had a good race, finishing 38th with a time of 21:33 in only her second cross country race.
The week before, on August 29th, both teams competed in the Fairfield Invitational. The boys' team finished 3rd overall, with senior Jeffrey Denny and junior Curtis Marshall competing well for the team in addition to Sulken and Tomczewski. The girls' team finished 4th in their race, led by Sam Work along with good races from junior Stacey Sulken and freshman Julia Romero.
