This week, the cross country teams traveled up to East Lansing, Michigan for the Michigan State Nike Playmakers Invitational. The meet is one of the most competitive in the nation; it started with a Division 1 college cross country race, followed by numerous levels of high school competition. In order to even be entered into the "Elite" race, teams had to be ranked in the state level. Both Colerain varsity squads competed in these Elite races. On the boy's side, junior Craig Sulken finished 44th with a time of 17:03. Right behind him was sophomore Erik Tomczewski in 17:04, finishing 49th. In the girl's race, junior Sam Work led the team with a time of 20:27, followed by junior Allison Steinbeck with a time of 20:29. Freshman Julia Romero also ran very well, finishing 45th out of over 700 runners in the junior varsity race with a time of 22:30 that earned her a varsity spot.
