Junior Varsity

Cards against the Panthers tonight at Colerain. Colerain was a little short handed tonight as two players moved to varsity, one player was injured, and two other players were only able to play half a game. Despite all of that, the Cardinals dominated the match. Colerain showed an outstanding team effort, communicating, passing, and controlling the ball. Colerain's defense did an excellent job of showing patience, keeping the ball pushed forward, and supporting the offense well into Elder's half of the field. The Cards offense was able to generate many shots on goal throughout the match but could not finish. The game ended in a tie, 0-0, however all things considered the Cardinals played a great match.

Pre-game warm-ups showed the Cardinals wanted a win badly. The Cards took the field moving some player around looking to create some energy. In the first half of the game there was a lot of back and forth play, with both teams able to generate some shots on goal. About 14 minutes into the second half, Elder committed a blatant foul inside their own box, allowing Senior Ryan Theile to score on a penalty kick. The game started to get physical at this point due to Elder's inability to create much offensively and Colerain's desire for a win. Elder, however, scored late, getting behind the Cardinal defense and finishing on a one on shot against Colerain's goalie. The game ended in a 1-1 draw, leaving Colerain still looking for that ever elusive win.
