Boy's JV & Varsity Soccer Both Fall to Sycamore 3-0

By Mike Hoffman

Junior Varsity

The boys junior varsity played Sycamore at Sycamore. The game did not go the way of the Cardinals. Sycamore's passing ability was very impressive, but the Cardinals showed no signs of quitting. Colerain was only down by 1 goal at the end of the first half. During the second half however, Colerain's inability to generate much offense and playing on their own half of the field most of the time would allow Sycamore to score 2 more goals. The game ended with Sycamore winning 3-0.

Varsity

It was a great evening for Soccer. The boys varsity team looked like they were ready for a tough match against the 2008 GMC champs. Sycamore started off strong, scoring 3minutes into the game with nice passing and ball control by Sycamore's offense. Colerain picked up the pace and showed signs of determination, ending the first half only down by 1 goal. In the second half Colerain did a better job handling Sycamore's high pressure game, however Sycamore winning what seemed like 80 percent of the calls would prove fatal for the Cardinals. Sycamore's offense was able to score two more goals in the second half. Colerain did not quit, late in the game Colerain's offense was able to generate a couple of nice shots, shots coming from Ryan Theile and Austin Root. Colerain's goalie Mitch Revetta provided a nice highlight by stopping a penalty kick from a questionable call by the line judge. The game would end with Sycamore winning 3-0. It was a tough match for the Cardinal's giving them plenty to think about in this young season.

Colerain's next match is against Anderson, Tuesday September 1st at Colerain.
