Coach Bolden's Comments: Lakota West

">

Colerain's Swagger Returns in Dominating Win Over West!

The swagger is back.

Colerain running backs followed the blocks of their inspired offensive line and decimated the highly touted Lakota West Firebird defense to the tune of 446 rushing yards Friday night at West. The Cardinals were given a scare on the opening posession when senior leader Brandon White left the game with a sprained knee. White would return to action shortly thereafter and help clear the way for three 100 yard rushers. "It feels good. That's one of the best defenses we've played" said White after the game. When asked about the condition of his knee the senior Captain shrugged it off. "I'll be a little sore tomorrow, but I'm good."

Colerain jumped out to a 14-0 lead on the strength of two TD runs by Tyler 'Flash' Williams (21 yards, 3 yards) but found itself in a close ball game after West siezed momentum by executing, to perfection, a fake punt from its own end of the field. After Jordan Hicks 42 yard scamper the Firebirds SEC bound (Ole Miss) running back, Stephen Houston, powered through would be Cardinal tacklers en route to a 17 yard touchdown scamper that made the game 14-7. It was a gut check moment for a team playing its best competition since the stunning loss to Middletown two weeks ago. On the road, against a great defense and on senior night, no less. It took the Cardinals less than two minutes to negotiate 54 yards capped by Flash's third touchdown run from four yards out. From there, the Cardinal swager had returned and the contest was never in doubt.

Cardinals rough up Lakota West 35-13

The Cardinals came out and a statement last night against West with a decisive 35-13 win. After West's 34-7 win over Middletown last week, many thought this might be a tough challenge for the Cardinals. The Cardinals rose to the challenge and came out firing early. Colerain ran for 446 yards, led by Greg Tabar who ran 22 times for 152 yards and a td. Tyler Williams added 151 yards on 14 carries and 3 tds and Trayion Durham pitched in with 19 carries for 132 yards and 1 td.

Colerain v. Fairfield

Colerain coming off of its first conference loss in nearly a decade, took it out on Fairfield last week. You could say it was a nightmare of sorts for the Indians. Therefore, Metallica's new song "All Nightmare Long" is used for the background music this week.

Enjoy!

Colerain Falls to Middie Magic...

Congrats to Middletown on a well earned victory. The Cardinal defense wasn't totally dominated but they were victimized by some great players and there is no shame in that. My take after the interview with coach Bolden is that Colerain will answer the way Colerain teams answer: Hard work, preperation and determination. There's a whole lotta season still to play and the Men of Colerain should continue to hold their heads high and work hard like all that have come before them and all that are yet to come.

A quick note about this video...I chose the Bush song 'Comedown' as the background music because it was a heck of a 9 year ride to get to this point and nobody really wanted to 'Comedown' from the high horse we've been riding all these years in the GMC. But the truth is, I believe this loss is a good one. A new streak can (and I believe will) arise from the remnants of the Middletown game. I also ended the video with a couple of Middie highlights out of respect for the game, Middie fans and Middie players. They earned it and I thought it was fair to acknowledge them.

GMC Streak ends at 61 games, Cardinals fall 42-39 to Middletown

The Cardinals 61 game GMC winning streak ended tonight at the hands of the Middletown Middies at Barnitz Stadium 42-39. Colerain fought hard in this game to get out with a win, but the Middies offense just kept coming and made big plays at the right times to pull out the victory. From the staff at WeAreColerain.com hats off the Middies for a great game and great victory.
